From early on in our childhood we dream of becoming something or being someone!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On March 1, 2015, as I found myself touring the Newark Airport. It was the stopover on my way to Israel, a trip of a lifetime… Anyways, I noticed a peculiar advertising poster (pictured above).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The girl in the ad says “when I grow up I want to be<\/strong> a chef.<\/em>” Notice that the ad does not say “when I grow up I want to cook.”To cook and  to be chef are two very different things! Cooking is doing something. Being a chef appeals to an identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This notion of being gives meaning to our lives as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simplifying<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We recently picked up the book “Simplify: Ten Practices to Unclutter Your Soul<\/span><\/a>.” As soon as I started reading I realized my soul was in for a treat!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Early on in the book, the author calls us to go from over scheduled to organized by guiding the reader through the process of simplifying his\/her calendar. He writes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My schedule is less about what I want to get done and more about who I want to become.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Immediately I realized my schedule needed some simplifying… I enjoyed the type of work I was doing. My calendar was full of to do’s and I was good at getting them done. However, the problem was that I was not allowing much time to become the me that I dream to be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ultimately, the book became my accomplice as I resigned from my day job!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food for thought<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If there is ever a time “to be or not to be” that time is NOW!  Maybe it’s time to recover the dreams of who you want to become.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
